Fossil fuels. Globally, our reliance on them is tremendous. Fossil fuels provide us with the petroleum products that fuel our vehicles, heat our homes and power urban areas around the world. As the worlds population grows, the use of fossil fuels accelerates exponentially. We are using up the vast stores of oil and gas and we are killing our planet in the process. A life of convenience is destroying our world. Hopefully the cries about global warming will be heeded and we can begin to slowly reverse the damage that we have done. Our future is renewable, sustainable green energy sources. Why would we turn to green energy? The advantages of utilizing these sources of energy may never be fully realized if we dont start migrating toward them. There are some that point out the costs of some green energy alternatives. What the fail to point out is that, in most geographic locales, there is a green energy source that is viable. Farblinsen . Not every green energy is suitable for every location and choosing the appropriate green energy for that specific location is part of the solution to our energy woes and our tainted environment. The wide variety of green energy geothermal, solar, wave, wind, and hydropower are clean energy sources that dont negatively impact on our environment. This is diametrically opposed to the impact made by the plants producing fossil fuel power. There are over 50,000 producing coal plants around the globe and this number is growing to meet power demands. The amount of carbon dioxide released from these plants is toxic to our environment. While nuclear plants dont release much in the way of pollutants, the legacy we are left with the problem of spent rods that require contained storage for hundreds of years. This doesnt even take into account the possibly of another nuclear plant accident. The footprint these types of plants leave on our planet could end up being catastrophic.Although green energy plants do require maintenance, they require much less maintenance than conventional energy sources. Not only does the environment benefit but we also benefit by reduced costs and a healthier planet. Damenstiefel . Another advantage of green energy is that nature renews them continually. As long as the sun continues to shines and the winds still blow, we have the opportunity to harness them for our power. By gravitating toward these sources, our dependency on fossil fuels is reduced.Do we really want our legacy to be a society that ignored the planets health so that we could have what we want when we want it? How very selfish and myopic of us that we dont care what we leave for the future generations to deal with as long as our needs are met now. We have the power to change the path that we, as a society, are traveling down. The technology exists and, in for the most part, it is affordable. We all now have to apply pressure and make sure that our politicians develop the political will to move forward and adopt green energy to supplement, and eventually surpass, our power production. Then we, as individuals, need to loosen our purse strings and start utilizing green energy sources for our own needs. Little will happen without us, the population, ensuring that there is an impetus for change. While it is easy to talk the talk, it is not always easy to walk the walk. Will we be inconvenienced? You bet we will but it is a price that we must pay to effect change. Despite what we know about the damage that we are doing, little has changed. This cannot be acceptable. Finding and utilizing green energy is a solution to many of the social and environmental ills that plague us. Worldwide, we need to move away from fossil fuels and start using green energy. Countries can become self-reliant, as far as their energy needs go, by producing power from Natures bounty.

Green Energy Sources – Advantages and Disadvantages

Global warming, is there anyone left that is not aware of it? Hopefully it is no too late to start reversing the damage. To that end, many people are looking at, and for, renewable green energy sources. One of the advantages of using green energy is that it emits not toxins into the environment or the atmosphere. Unlike fossil fuels, green energy is renewable and sustainable. If managed responsibly, we should be able to generate sufficient power to all users without worrying about the source running out. Though some green energy plants, like geothermal, can be expensive to construct, they require a lot less maintenance and operational costs can be quite low. When these facilities are built, they provide, through jobs, economic benefits to the area. In some instances, like wind farms, tourism can be a spin off effect. While there are several advantages to green energy, there are also disadvantages. Although green energy sources can be used to produce electricity, there is no consistency to the amount produced. Weather play a large part in production and extremely bad weather can bring production to a halt. An example is the reliance of an area on solar power. If there is several days of storm cloud cover, there is little solar power to harness. Some types of green energy, like wind farming, require a massive amount of land. This could mean that farmland used to grow edible crops is converted to energy farming. This is a concern, as countries need to grow food for domestic consumption and, in many countries, a great deal of farmland is lost to other uses every year. The fact that certain types of green energy sources are only suitable for certain areas is also a disadvantage. One example of this is that wave energy is only effective in very specific parts of the world. Facebook adverteren . Another example is that the capture of geothermal energy is only suited for parts of the globe that are geographically unstable.Areas that are unsuitable for the utilization of one type of green energy may well be suited to another. There is always a solution if there is a will. Wind turbines can be, and have been placed offshore when the land mass needed has not been available.Although we cannot control the weather, we can plan for the disruptions that it may bring. If cloud cover obscures the sun, there can be storage areas that would then kick in. Researcher continue to for new green energy to harness for our needs. Hawaii and Japan are, on a small scale, using an energy called ocean thermal energy. The temperatures in the water are harnessed to use as an energy source. Great care is needed with this technology so that the ocean ecosystem is not affected by changing temperatures. In the US eleven years ago, the percentage of green energy sources being harnessed was higher than it is today. We cannot only worry about exploring it in times of economic turmoil. wholesalers . We, as a global community must invest more resources into utilizing what nature provides renewable green energy!
