At first glance the website seems very formal and official but the casual visitor needs to be curious and explore the website with an avid interest to glean some very useful information from the good folks there. Creating our own source of green energy? A dream? Not at all! Imagine not having to pay electrical or heating bills anymore. Not to mention not having to buy gasoline for our cars. There are ways that we can reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and begin to live with sustainable, eco-friendly energy. For example, wind and solar energy can be used effectively to generate residential power. Commercial Energy Auditing . The equipment to harness and generate power is available and affordable. If you want to build a system, you can do the research and build one with relative ease or buy a complete system.In order to harness solar power, there are some supplies that you will need in order to construct a solar array, you will have to purchase solar panels, an inverter, a charge controller, a battery, electrical wiring and a structure to support the array. To build a wind energy station, you will need to develop a lit of necessary supplies. There are supply houses that will kits and also sell unpackaged supplies. If you can afford it and dont have the skill to build a solar or wind generator, this is a great option. Some even provide installation and that takes the guesswork out of the equation. Once they install, the system is functional.Before you rush out to get the materials or kits to build a turbine or array, make sure that you have the necessary space and, for wind turbines, a consistent wind speed of about 11mph. You will also need to ensure that you have any required permits and approvals. To get these, you may have to educate the proper authorities, and neighbors, about green energy sources.If you have neither the space nor the budget to harness solar or wind power, you can always look at biofuels as an option. Many countries are moving toward expanding production of biofuels. Typically, biofuels are made from harvesting crops such as sugar and corn. For your personal use, a farm is not necessary. You can make biofuels by recycling your own organic waste. Vegetable oil is one example of waste that can be used for fuel. In order to convert the oil to a biofuel, start by warming the oil to make it thin and then filter it using coffee filters. Next, you have to reduce the oil by boiling out the water. You want to boil it at 100 degrees Fahrenheit for a short time. To determine the amount of lye in the oil, process called titration is used. Then sodium hydroxide is mixed to make sodium methoxide. To convert vegetable oil to biofuel takes time and you must maintain the heat on the oil. This is the only way to produce pure fuel. Once you have achieved that, you can let it cool down.How much biofuel is you produce depends on how much waste vegetable oil you start with. You will see the results and then can gauge how much more you need to make. If glycerin is still present, you will need to refilter the oil.Now you have produced your very own biofuel! By making your own biofuel, you become less dependent on gasoline in its many forms. Why dont more people do this? It is a matter of time and the power of conviction. Some simply want convenience and prefer to take the path of least inconvenience. Some dont have the time. Before using your biofuel, discuss the matter with a qualified mechanic and do your research!! You dont want to ruin engines by taking shortcuts.
